Uses the same game engine as Interplay's earlier adventure, Mindshadow™.

Copy on the rear of the package:

Danger in the first degree.

Open on a sultry, rather unremarkable big-city afternoon.

Focus on a sweaty, sort of sloppy small-time PI's office.
(Any similarities to run-of-the-mill sleuth stories end here.)

The drowsy detective is rudely jerked back to consciousness by his telephone's nasty jangle:

"Sam, you're a dead man."

Game file:
System requirements
System:
System 1 - 5
System 6.x
Architecture:
68k
Emulation:
Mini vMac (68k)
Compatibility:

The conventional Mini vMac build emulates a 4MB Mac Plus, which is able to play Borrowed Time, albeit with an invisible inventory. Items simply are not drawn to the screen, but the game text can list your current inventory and items you can pick up.

The ideal emulator is the Macintosh 128K build of Mini vMac upgraded with 512k of RAM. Use the Gryphel Project's Variations Service to build this Mac for your platform. With this emulator, item images are drawn to the screen, fully visible in your inventory pane and in the game's scenery.

Do not use the 128k Macintosh build with only 128k of RAM or you will frequently encounter system errors of type 15, which is a segment loader exception. This is either a bug in the original code or a side effect of the copy protection having been removed.

Borrowed Time will start automatically when its disk image is inserted at boot time. Attempting to launch the game from the Finder is not recommended because the disk lacks a proper Desktop file and the program file itself ("Troy P. Worrell") is invisible.
